What is BRAINY DAYS?

The Brainy Days podcast is brought to you by two students of neuroscience:
Creator and host Jeff Mercurio & co-host Paul LaFosse.

Both having much exposure to the field of neuroscience, these two (very different) friends casually discuss the intricacies of thought and the human brain. Jeff and Paul advocate for ways the general public could benefit from better understanding the field of neuroscience as a whole — and more specifically — how we can each learn more about ourselves and our behavior through learning more about the human brain.

Why NEUROSCIENCE?

Understanding neuroscience and some of its jargon is incredibly rewarding, especially when the opportunity to learn more about ourselves as humans comes from learning just a few vocabulary words. Understanding specific functions of the brain can not only educate us but can sharpen our emotional intelligence as we grow as individuals, positively contributing to the formation and maintenance of relationships, our understanding of our own emotions, and the overall quality of our life.

Although a seemingly intimidating field to dive into alone, there are plenty of simple concepts in neuroscience that could help us better understand ourselves, as well as the people that make up the world around us. Jeff and Paul offer a casual platform for the public to indulge in learning more about the brain.

Why MENTAL HEALTH?

Not enough time is spent focusing on the science of our mental health.
Plus, it’s just really cool to understand the brain and how it works as a whole, even at a basic level.

Although starting to become more popular within both the workforce and academia, the importance of maintaining positive mental health and our well-being as individuals is not yet as heavily emphasized as it should be. Brainy Days was created to help increase awareness about the impact that our mental health has on our lives while also casually educating the listener in the science of brain biology.

Why NOT?

There is no reason why you shouldn't learn more about your brain.
